What do you remember most about CNY? The deafening beating of drums and clashing of the symbals as a pair of lion or dragon dances around the interior and exterior of a house/shop/hawker centre? Or a reunion which you are not part off, but you can hear the endless chattering, loud laughter and smell the wift of mouthwatering munchies? Or the yummy goodies which make your waist expand drastically? Or Ang Pows even if it is just $2? Or a chance to catch up with relatives whom you meet only once a year?
What I remember most about CNY, was an account told by my dad's friend about his son and his daughter-in-law. They are both well educated and financially stable and yet they had the cheek to give empty ang pow packets to my dad's friend and his wife! When they approached the couple for clarification, the wife started blaming the husband and vice versa and when a new set of ang pows came back to them it was filled, but with $10! Shameless & Insincere Couple!! tsk tsk tsk!!
